About Us

The Canajoharie Central School District covers 100 square miles and serves approximately 975 students in eight townships in Montgomery and Schoharie counties. The district’s facilities include East Hill Elementary School (Pre-K-5), Canajoharie Middle School (grades 6-8) and Canajoharie High School (grades 9-12).

Our district is focused on educating the whole child, with our elementary, middle and high school programs centered on preparing students for success in college and careers. Parents, alumni and other district residents play an important role in Canajoharie schools, and the district prides itself as being the center of the community.

The Canajoharie High School features the Arkell Performing Arts Center, science, technology, business and computer labs, music suites, art studios, a fitness center and indoor running track. At our elementary and middle school campus, students and the community also have access to the Nellis Memorial Pool, an elementary great room, a school amphitheater and a new community-built playground.

In addition to the traditional academic programs, the district offers Advanced Placement courses, 21st-century elective courses such as Global Problem Solving and International Studies, two foreign languages, summer driver education and classes in fine and visual arts, family and consumer science, technology and music. Canajoharie also offers the area’s only school orchestra. Our student support services include a team of special education, school social work, psychology and school guidance professionals who strive to make Canajoharie a great school district for every student.

Outside of the classroom, the district offers nearly 20 varsity level sports and numerous extracurricular organizations such SADD, history, science and technology clubs and our Odyssey of the Mind program, which has seen Canajoharie students compete at the OM World Finals.
