Board of Education

The five elected members of the Board of Education work with the administration, faculty, parents, students and local residents to create a healthy learning environment within our schools.

Board meetings

Board meetings are generally held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in room 113 (the choir room) at Canajoharie High School. For further information call 673-6302.

The first meeting of the month is the board's business meeting, which is held in public observing the New York State Open Meetings Law and Robert's Rules of Order.

The second meeting of the month is informational in nature. Presentations are made to the board on various topics, adminstrators provide updates and board committees report on their activity.

Board meeting agendas, minutes and other material

Beginning in January 2017, board meeting agendas, minutes and other materials are available to the public through the board's BoardDocs system. For older meeting materials, contact the District Superintendent's office at 673-6302.

Addressing the Board of Education

The Board of Education recognizes its responsibility to hear public comment and encourages the public to attend board meetings. Visitors have the opportunity to address the Board of Education during the "public comment" period held during the first meeting of the month. While a public comment period is generally not on the agenda for the second meeting of the month, members of the public may direct questions to board members after the meeting.

Individuals wishing to address the board may:
Notify the District Clerk prior to the start of the meeting at 7 p.m. to request the floor; or step forward when the board president asks if anyone is interested in speaking before the board; or if you know well in advance that you would like to address the board, you may contact the district clerk at 673-6302 to be included on the agenda.

Please note: Comments should not exceed five minutes and should directly relate to school matters.
