Medicine in school
Over the course of the year, a student's physician
may feel that a student may require medication during the school
day. But, an antibiotic shared with an allergic friend or a
painkiller given to another who has an existing medical condition
could be disastrous. To ensure the safety of all students, the
district has specific rules for medicine in school.
These simple rules will help keep everyone safe:
1) No student may possess or take over-the-counter or prescription
medication in school without the written permission of their doctor
and parents. Simply fill out the
Medication Request Form and return to school.
2) Even with appropriate permission, the medication must
be administered under supervision of the school nurse.
3) School nurses
are not allowed to administer any medication (even including
Tylenol, Advil, and cough drops) to students without a completed
Medication Request Form.
