The 2024-25 Budget Vote will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from noon to 8 p.m. at the East Hill Library.
WHAT'S ON THE BALLOT:
The 2024-25 Proposed School Budget:
Proposed budget: $25,405,843
Proposed budget increase: .48%
Proposed Tax levy increase: 2.57%
Propositions:
BOARD OF EDUCATION: Elect one member to the Board of Education to a five-year term. Incumbent Keith Baker is the only candidate.
BUS PROPOSITION: Allow the district to lease four 70-passenger buses and one wheelchair accessible bus for a five-year term for a total cost of $149,500.
EQUIPMENT RESERVE USAGE: Allow the district to purchase classroom furniture through the previously established Equipment Reserve fund for a cost not to exceed $140,000.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE: Allow a high school student to serve as an ex officio, non-voting member of the Canajoharie Central School District Board of Education.
CAPITAL PROJECT EXTENSION: Use of $170,000 of fund balance to extend current capital project by $1,500,000. NYS will reimburse the district $1,330,000 in building aid at no additional cost to the district.
ENERGY PERFORMANCE CONTRACT: Allow the district to receive an additional 10% building aid on an energy performance contract - no additional tax impact to residents.
WHO CAN VOTE:
To vote, an individual must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen and a resident of the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote.
