Police officers stand with a palette full of plastic buckets outside of the rustic, barn-like Ace Hardware store.

As part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, the Canajoharie Police Department and Canajoharie Central School District are teaming up to equip every room in the district with life-saving “Stop the Bleed” medical supplies. These kits are a critical component of our layered security procedures, designed to ensure we are as prepared as possible for any emergency.

In the event of a severe injury, bleeding can quickly become life-threatening, with an average time to bleed out between two to five minutes. We also know many lives can be saved if injuries are treated in the classroom before EMS can arrive. To address this, we aim to provide "Go Buckets" — equipped with essential medical supplies in every room — where students and staff could be during a lockdown.

Both staff and students have been trained in the use of these supplies, ensuring that help is available as quickly as possible if the worst-case scenario should occur. With your support, we can ensure that these life-saving tools are exactly where they need to be ready to protect our community.

With your help, our goal is to have this program operational by Oct. 31, 2024. To help send a check to: The Village of Canajoharie at 75 Erie Blvd., Canajoharie, NY 13317. In the memo section, please write “Go Buckets”. Additionally, please send an email to jason.peruzzi@canjo.org so we know to look out for it.
